The general pattern (AMD and Intel both follow this logic)
- Entry-level letter (B, H) -- fewer high-speed lanes, fewer overclocking features, usually cheaper. Perfectly fine for most builds that are not chasing extreme overclocking or many add-in cards.
- High-end letter (X, Z) -- more PCIe lanes, better power delivery, full overclocking support. Matters if you are running a high-end CPU at its limits, multiple GPUs, or several NVMe drives at once.

What actually matters for a typical Ugandan build
For the vast majority of gaming, office, and creative-work builds, a B-series board (B650 or B760/B860) is the right call -- it is not a compromise, it is simply not paying for overclocking headroom and extra PCIe lanes that most builds never use. Reserve X670/Z790-class boards for genuinely high-end builds with top-tier CPUs and multiple fast NVMe drives.
Do not skip checking RAM support
Beyond the chipset tier, always confirm whether a board supports DDR4 or DDR5 specifically -- this is the detail that most often trips up buyers matching a motherboard to RAM they already own or are planning to reuse.
